I am 26 years old and work as a
resident services coordinator at Friendship Gardens in Howell. I
love to read, bake, and watch CSI and, thanks to my Mom, The Closer.
I was Charlie's caretaker when he was sick and I am so proud of him. |

Charlie is a 30 year old cancer
SURVIVOR!!! He is a strong, smart, and loving man. He loves to
fish, watch movies, and skateboard! He works as a mason for C&C Ripolli in Barnegate. |

My cousin, Rachel, was dating
Charlie's best friend, Joe. One night, Charlie asked Rachel if she
knew of anyone that he would be a good match with and she thought of
me. It took 2 months before I agreed to meet him, but in November
2002, I went with Rachel to Jack's Bar and Grill in Neptune. It took
one look and a few notes from Joe (Tyler) to know that he was the
one. I will always remember how he looked when we first saw
each other. |

We had always talked about getting
married- we were just waiting for the right time. Charlie was
diagnosed with larynx cancer on January 28, 2006. He began radiation
and chemotherapy treatment soon after. He began to develop side
effects almost immediately. One day, I came home to take him to
radiation treatment and I found him dressed up! We got our coats on
and he said "Wait" and he reached into his pocket and got down on
one knee. The rest of the story is for my heart only... |
